Nebraska Ethanol production hits record high

Nebraska ethanol plants produced a record 127.1 million gallons of ethanol in the month of September, an increase of 8.6% since 2008.
Todd Sneller, administrator of the Nebraska Ethanol Board, said the increase in ethanol production proves ethanol’s long-term economic viability.
Chief Ethanol Celebrates 25th Anniversary

On Monday, November 23, 2009, Chief Ethanol Fuels in Hastings will hold an open house to commemorate its 25th year of operation. Senator Ben Nelson will provide keynote remarks at 1:00 p.m. Other speakers will include Bob Eihusen, president of Chief Industries and Duane Kristensen, general manager of Chief Ethanol Fuels. Tours of the plant will be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day.

Ethanol boosts Nebraska economy

While much of the nation is struggling to regain economic growth and employment, ethanol is strengthening Nebraska’s economy. According to research compiled by NPPD, the ethanol industry in Nebraska has created over $3 billion in economic activity and over 3,000 jobs, when accounting for the indirect effects of the industry.

Ethanol Board member receives national award

Nebraska Ethanol Board member David Hallberg was awarded the Merle Anderson award for contributions to the ethanol industry at the American Coalition for Ethanol (ACE) conference in Milwaukee last week. ACE is a grassroots ethanol advocacy organization founded 22 years ago.

New report shows ethanol lowers emissions, better for environment

A new report by the Clean Fuels Development Coalition shows that ethanol is far better for the environment than gasoline and that corn ethanol can reduce greenhouse gas emissions by over 20%.

Ethanol Board applauds GBC letter to President Obama

The Nebraska Ethanol Board expressed its support today for a recent letter from the Governors’ Biofuels Coalition to President Obama. The letter asked the president to continue his support of biofuels and includes several specific proposals designed to increase the production and use of biofuels over the next decade.

Underwriter's Lab approves 15% Ethanol

Underwriters Laboratories, a leading product safety and testing certification group, recently announced approval of 15% ethanol blends in dispensing equipment certified for regular gasoline. UL’s previous technical bulletins were clarified to ensure that fuel marketers and others were aware that equipment currently in use will tolerate fuels beyond the 10% ethanol in conventional gasoline dispensing equipment.

Ethanol Board elects new officers

The Nebraska Ethanol Board elected new officers at its January 16 board meeting. Mike Thede of Palmer was elected Chair. Thede represents general farming interests on the board and also serves as President of the Howard County Farm Bureau and sits on the United Soybean Board.
